Kiteboard Leash Dilemma

They are designed to make sure the rider doesn’t get too far separated from the board in the event of a wipe-out. The biggest problem with using a kiteboard leash is the increased possibility of serious injury to the rider. When a rider falls off of the board, these leashes can sometimes snap the board back towards the rider.

If you aren't using leash in flat water and have a wipe-out, just bodydrag upwind and get the board back. But if is there some waves? And if are thoses waves in front of the rocks? The possibility of get your board on the rocks is huge on a wipe-out.

Use it and have a injury or don't use and break or lose your board. Trying get out of this dilemma most of the time I don't use it. But there's some consequences:

I lost my kiteboard yesterday at kuau point. The board went to deep ocean. Strong kona wind blows quite off-shore. That made the board go to horizon line instead to the rocks. Better without board than without teeth.
